The necessity of a personal salvation experience through faith in Christ.
God's word is the only complete reliable and truthful authority, so we accept the Bible as our manual for living.
Christ Jesus is the recognized Head of our church, not any person, group, or religious organization.
The Bible teaches that every Christian is called to “full-time” Christian service regardless of his or her vocation.
We practice tithing for the support of Christ’s Body, the church--not as a commandment, but as a Biblical principle.
We practice baptism by immersion (under water)—the way Jesus was baptized and the way the Bible commands.
We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us.
Every Christian is personally resposible to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those God sendsour way or causes to to come into contact with us.
At The Chapel we never ask our members to do more than the Bible clearly teaches. We only encourage our members to do what the Bible expects every Christian to do. These responsibilities are spelled out in the Membership Covenant.
Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior, and being in agreement with The Chapel's statements, strategy, and structure,(including the Relational Commitments that are now incorporated into our Bylaws) I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with The Chapel church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:
1. I WILL PROTECT THE UNITY OF MY CHURCH
“So let us concentrate on the things which make for harmony, and on the growth of our fellowship together.” Rom. 15:19 (Ph)
“Live in complete harmony with each other - each with the attitude of Christ toward each other.” Rom. 15:5(TLB)
“Have a sincere love for your fellow believers, love one another earnestly with all your hearts.” 1 Peter 1:22(GN)
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs ... ” Eph.4:29(NIV)
“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be no advantage to you.” Heb. 13:17(NIV)
2. I WILL SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY CHURCH
“To the church ... we always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers.” 1 Thess. 1:1-2(NIV)
“Go out into the country ... and urge anyone you find to come in, so that My House will be full.” Luke 14:23(LB)
"Warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified.” Rom. 15:7(LB)
3. I WILL SERVE THE MINISTRY OF MY CHURCH
“Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you ...”1 Peter 4:10 (Ph)
“[Jesus Christ] gave some to be apostle...prophets…evangelists …pastors and teachers to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up...” Eph.4:11- 12(NIV)
“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus ...who made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant...” Phil 2:4-5, 7(NIV)
" Let each of you look not only to you own interests, but also to the interests of others . In your relationship with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus... who made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant..."
4. I WILL SUPPORT THE LIFE OF MY CHURCH
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing... but let us encourage one another.” Heb. 10:25(NIV)
“But just as you excel in everything…see that you also excel in the grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)
“But whatever happens, make sure that your everyday life is worthy of the gospel of Christ.” Phil. 1:27 (Ph)
If you are a Christian, with a clear knowledge that you have been born again as a result of personally confessing your sins and accepting God's forgiveness through Jesus' death on the cross, all you need to do is begin worshipping with us. Simply let the Pastor know that you wish to make this your church home. You are a member because you are a Christian. If you wish to become a covenanted member of the church, which includes voting and other privileges, please see the Membership Covenant under the Membership tab.
If you have been worshipping elsewhere and wish to fellowship with us, a letter of transfer of membership from your pastor is helpful and encouraged, but not required.
Learn & live according to God's word. Obey it and serve God through it.
